Charity Navigator: An Alternative to Black Friday

Why call it something that it's not? I suggest Green Friday, despite the fact that 'Greed Friday' may be more appropriate.

Did you know that retailers took in $10.66 billion in sales, in one day, black Friday, 2009? In comparison, arts charities took in $12.3 billion in contributions, in all of 2009.

Before you go out to the stores, why not rethink some of those gifts on your list? I’m sure some (if not all) of your family and friends would be thrilled to receive a Good Card – which enables them to donate to their favorite charity. And since you can buy Good Cards online, you don’t have to get up in the middle of the night and stand in a long, cold line waiting to do your shopping.
